A cosmetic injectable is any aesthetic treatment that is injected by a qualified doctor or nurse. This includes wrinkle-reducing injections (such as Botox®), fillers, Profhilo®, Sculptra® and threads. These treatments are used for different reasons, but most often to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and also to subtly restore features such as lips and cheeks. You can read more about all the different kinds of cosmetic injectables here.
That’s what we’re here for! Our cohort of amazing doctors at Port Medical Aesthetics are passionate about achieving the right look for you personally. What works for one person, may not be right for another. We believe in natural results that leave you feeling happy and confident. So we will work closely in consultation with you to discuss the results you’d like to see and how we can get there.
That all depends on the treatment. Most wrinkle-reducing treatments last from 3-5 months, but will then need maintaining to keep your desired results. Some people also may find, however, by keeping up with injections, the results will start to last longer, and as time goes on, less is needed. The minimum time between treatments for the same area is 4-6 weeks. Fillers will vary depending on the area of the face. Speak to one our expert doctors to discuss a specific plan for you.
This varies from person to person. We’d like to say they don’t, but the reality is it is a small needle entering your skin, so it will sting a bit! Most patients describe it as a manageable discomfort though.
The short answer is no! Botox® is a well-known brand of Botulinum Toxin, which is the prescription medication used for wrinkle-reducing injections as well as for treating a wide range of clinical conditions. Due to its well-known branding, you may hear wrinkle-reducing injections, in general, being referred to as ‘Botox’ for short, but there is no actual difference between the two terms. Just like there are many brands of Paracetamol, there is more than one brand of Botulinum Toxin. You might hear us in the clinic refer to wrinkle-reducing injections just as “toxin”. You can read more about it here.
Wrinkle-reducing injections use the Botulinum Toxin, which has been considered very safe to use within the medical industry for a long time! It actually has many uses other than just for aesthetic purposes, such as treating migraines, overactive bladder, involuntary muscle spasms, and bruxism. No medical treatment or procedure is 100% risk-free, but the risks for wrinkle-reducing injections are very low. They are even further minimised when you seek treatment from a professional and experienced doctor or nurse.
