Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) Aftercare Advice

Thank you for choosing to have anti-wrinkle treatments with us. To maintain your amazing results and avoid any potential complications, please follow the aftercare instructions below.

Immediately after treatment:

Do not rub, touch, or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise or physical activity for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid lying down or bending over for at least 4 hours after treatment.

In the days following treatment:

Do not expose the treated area to excessive heat, including sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas, or hot tubs for at least 48 hours.

Do not use any other cosmetic treatments on the treated area for at least 24 hours after treatment.

Do not take any blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least 24 hours after treatment.

If you experience any discomfort or swelling, apply ice to the affected area for 10-15 minutes at a time.
If you are experiencing some bruising or swelling, we recommend the Arnicare Healing Balm, specifically designed to help reduce downtime after cosmetic procedures. You can purchase the balm here.

Additional information:

Results from Botox treatments typically last between 3-6 months.

It is important to maintain regular appointments for follow-up treatments to maintain your results.

If you experience any adverse side effects, such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, muscle weakness, or vision problems, contact the clinic immediately or your doctor directly.

Aesthetic Volume Aftercare Advice

Aesthetic Volume filler is one of the most popular treatments we perform at PMAC. If you’ve recently had a treatment with us, here is some useful information and aftercare advice.

Fillers often take up to a week to settle, sometimes longer, depending on what kind of filler was used, how much was used, and where it was used.

If you have had lip filler it can be normal for the lips to be bumpy, swollen or uneven looking for up to 14 days after your treatment. Filler in other areas of the face, such as cheeks, chin and jaw, may have little to no swelling or downtime.

Recommendations after treatment:

Apply ice to any treated areas
Avoid blood thinners such as aspirin or anti-inflammatories
Avoid sleeping on the treatment areas
Stay upright for a few hours after treatments
Avoid pressure on the treated areas for a few days
No skin treatments or active skincare over injected sites
Drink plenty of water
Apply hirudoid or Arnica to bruises (we have Arnicare arnica balm for purchase at $17, which we recommend for patients who bruise very easily, this will last you for many treatments and can be applied before and after your appointment). You can purchase Arnicare Balm in clinic, or online here.

Symptoms our doctors would consider normal include:

Bruising (mild)
Soreness over the injection sites (mild)
Swelling (minor, but can be more in the lip area)
Numbness while the local anaesthetic wears off
Minor lumps (but only for a few weeks)
Asymmetry (but only while there is swelling).

Symptoms that you should call your doctor about:

SIGNIFICANT BRUISING (please send photos to Dr Kristy via messenger, Instagram or text the clinic phone, if you see Dr Claudia or Dr Erin please message them directly on their mobile)
INCREASING PAIN over the injection site (minimal pain expected the next day and then no pain is normal)
EXCESSIVE SWELLING
SIGNIFICANT LUMPS (massage gently and send photos to your doctor)

Sculptra Aftercare Advice

Sculptra is a biostimulating dermal filler made from poly-L-lactic acid, used to stimulate collagen growth and add volume to skin, improving wrinkles and fine lines, especially in the mid-face and cheek area. Sculptra is injected into the skin. The results from Sculptra treatments develop gradually over several weeks as the collagen grows, and can last for up to two years. Sculptra is a safe and effective treatment when administered by a qualified and experienced medical professional.

Immediately after treatment:

Apply ice or a cold compress to the treated area to help reduce swelling and discomfort.
Avoid wearing makeup for at least 4 hours after treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise or physical activity for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid lying down or bending over for at least 4 hours after treatment.

In the days following treatment:

Avoid exposing the treated area to excessive heat, including sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas, or hot tubs for at least 48 hours.

Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area excessively.

Gently massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for the first 5 days after treatment to ensure even distribution of the product.

If you experience any discomfort or swelling, apply ice to the affected area for 10-15 minutes at a time.
